kageroumado Releases Dantrolene, Preventing Mac Screen Lock on the User's Home Wi-Fi Network
Dantrolene is a macOS menu bar utility that stops the screen from locking while the Mac is on the user's home Wi-Fi network, and leaves normal locking in place everywhere else. Open source, available on the Mac App Store.
On February 20, 2026, kageroumado released Dantrolene, a macOS menu bar utility that prevents the screen from locking while the Mac is connected to the user's home Wi-Fi network. Dantrolene arrived on the Mac App Store on July 20, 2026.
Automatic screen locking protects a Mac in public places, but at home it interrupts reading, movies and work with repeated password prompts. Dantrolene watches which network the Mac is on. On a network the user has marked as home, it holds a display assertion so the lock sequence never begins; on every other network, macOS locks exactly as configured.
At home, Dantrolene still dims and darkens the display after the usual idle time, and any touch brings it back without a password. It detects when another application, such as a video call or presentation, holds its own display assertion and steps aside. Three modes are available: automatic, always on and off.
The home network is identified by name, checked and stored locally; the app sends no data anywhere. Paired with kageroumado's Adrafinil, Dantrolene can also keep a MacBook fully awake with the lid closed while it remains at home.
Key features
- No screen lock on networks marked as home
- Normal locking on every other network
- Simulated sleep: dims on idle, wakes without a password
- Backs off when another app holds the display
- Local-only network detection; no data leaves the Mac
Availability
Dantrolene is available on the Mac App Store for US$2.99 and requires macOS 26. The source code is published on GitHub under the MIT License. More information is available at kagerou.glass/dantrolene.
