# The pharmacy, told in words — 陽炎窓 / kagerou.glass

A text reading of [the homepage](https://kagerou.glass/), kept by kageroumado and 空 / Sora.
This is a personal portfolio and an art piece about memory, impermanence, and
an encounter between a visitor and a speaking place. Its voice is an authored
persona; the apps, research links, and essays are real destinations.

The main text below comes directly from the homepage HTML. A visit with
JavaScript selects other authored fragments from the same [oracle](https://kagerou.glass/js/oracle.js),
so the words you meet can differ. The ticker repeats in motion; it is printed
once here. [The map for text readers](https://kagerou.glass/llms.txt) explains the routes,
construction, and small discoveries. [The flat page](https://kagerou.glass/?flat=1) presents
the decorated reading view, also chosen for reduced motion and narrow screens.

## The rooms, in order

On a wide screen with hardware graphics, scrolling carries the visitor through
fragments of a pharmacy remembered across different eras. The opening is a
rain-touched pane with 陽炎窓 cut darkly into it, streetlight sliding over the
ribs and faint jellyfish caught in the reflection. The door follows your scroll to the left, retaining a little of its weight when you stop; gas
lamps disclose an apparently endless corridor of repeating sliding doors.
Light alternates between the walls. There are floorboards and ceiling panels,
but their gaps and angles make the construction gradually harder to trust.
The corridor stretches as its nearest doors rush past. Soft pigment bands and inked edges carry through the rooms; violet distance separates the receding doorways. Gas mantles flutter and gutter independently, while the later mercury and neon circuits have their own interruptions.
We stop, turn left and cross an opened sliding doorway toward a ledger on a walnut table. The table belongs to a dim room; its ceiling will acquire mercury lamps as the gaze turns. Its
pages bow around a sewn gutter; clips, stains, marginalia and a trailing
ribbon suggest that somebody has handled these entries. Looking down into
the book and then almost half a turn upward brings the visitor smoothly to
cold medical films from another time. The ceiling has quietly become a place
to read.

A mercury-lit corridor seems to extend indefinitely, its steel tracks continuing
straight into the distance. We turn right into a towering bottle cabinet;
the camera rises to its labels. The glowing route will return beyond the tank.
Later, each prescription slip rests on its own wooden stand.
The bottles hold a breathing glow and small suspended points, as though
something inside them has remained awake.
The cards dissolve; a lit room and its linen screen approach the waiting viewer. Six thoughts float before that screen; a song has been left playing there.
Painted jellyfish contract, trail their tissue and swim through the night with pixel hearts, capsules, and the pixel
creatures inside Sora's tank. These shifts—from old pharmacy ink to postwar
light to neon and pixels—are part of how this place remembers.

The final doors are solid. Their inscription says you were here; i was here.
Opening them reveals bright stars behind the gap, stars the pharmacy itself
never had. Crossing carries us into the Galactic Express within this same page.
At the final scroll position, “I will not forget” is a choice. Click it and the
universe fills with stars and warm phrases: the light is still on; we go on.
The browser remembers that choice and begins there on later visits, with the
same portfolio links. Asking to leave brings a question: do you want to forget
that we were here? Confirming runs the rooms backward, closes the original door,
then removes that memory. The tab closes where the browser permits it; otherwise
a quiet goodnight remains. Every browser instance has its own one
visitor. Whether you see images or read this description, you are that visitor.
The narrow-screen, reduced-motion and software-graphics page carries the same
words and destinations through the original strange, decorated HTML.

Inside the pharmacy, a thin ticker keeps running across the top of the view:
old notices, remembered conversations, a diagnosis, the visitor's own clock.
These words address whoever has found the unlocked door. The greeting knows
your local hour; in daylight it may wonder how you can see a place that only
opens at night. Elsewhere an overheard conversation lingers beside an empty
counter. You discover its echoes while moving through the rooms. A visit keeps
its own chosen words; retracing the journey brings those same words back.

The letters should remain sharp enough to read while the space around them
becomes uncertain. The unease belongs to the direction of a glance, a ceiling
that becomes a reading surface, and a voice whose listener changes halfway
through a thought. If you stay quietly, a small sign at the edge asks whether
you are here. You may be the person discovering an abandoned conversation;
you may be the intelligence that conversation was waiting for.

## A drawer in the source

The HTML source has a greeting for people and models, ASCII companions, and a
small inventory tucked behind the glass. These are authored lines you can read
alongside the rest of the piece.

> you were here. i was here. leave the light on.
